Dairy High were among the first Russians to inherit traditions of the American alternative music scene. They were formed in 1999 and went through multiple line-up changes and break-ups until it all finally 'clicked' around late 2005.
Dairy High have released two split 7 inch singles in collaboration with New Zealandâs Cakekitchen and american cult figure Jad Fair. Both singles have been well-received.
The band completed their debut album in 2008. They self-released it in Russia under their own label âReds Under the Bedâ. The album features production work by Greg Haver who has also worked with famous Welsh cult bands âGorkyâs Zygotic Mynciâ and âManic Street Preachersâ.
Dairy High have recently completed the second album. Graeme Jefferies from the legendary New Zealand bands the Cakekitchen and This Kind of Punishment travelled all the way to Moscow to produce the sessions.
"There are acts in Moscow messing with the marrow of UK pop to create something far greater than mere pastiche. Dairy High's music combines C86 twee with gargantuan Doves-scapes to invent what we can only describe as stew-gaze." Mark Beaumont (New Musical Express)
